Derek A Parent Author/Guide/Documentary Photographer
Mr. Derek Parent founded (ITP) Intrepid Traveller Publications in 1993. ITP's primary mission is toprovide guidebooks for Latin American bound ecotravellers seeking highly detailed maps, ecological information, routing and direction into remote biosphere reserves previously unwritten about in standard guidebooks. Mr Parent ha d spent three years working on the first in a series of ecotravel guides entitled: La Mosquitia: A Guide To The Land Of Savannas, RainForests & Turtle Hunters By Derek A Parent 1- ISBN 896677-00-2. In addition to fieldresearch on La Mosquitia, Mr Parent c ontinues to photo-document the Garifuna, Pech, Miskito and Sumu indigenous peoples inhabiting this pristine region.
Parents' previous work in Central America includes the photo-documentation of the Tzotzil Maya in Chiapas, the Mam Maya in the Department of San Marcos Guatemala, the Tzutujil Maya of Lake Atitlan and the Lenca indigenous to Lempira in Honduras. In additi on to his documentation field work, Parent created a resource on the internet for those wishing to conduct travel or research into the Honduran Mosquitia and conducts special author-led expeditions into the territory. Mr Parent graduated from the Recordin g Arts And Sciences program at Dawson College.
